Personal Inclusive Pronouns

ᐊᑳᐧᐄ ᐃᐦᑏᐦ ᓈᔥᑎᑭᒌᔨ᙮

Inclusive pronouns indicate that someone else is included. The pronoun ᓈᔥᑎᑭᒌᔨ naashtikichiiyi is used in the example above to express the hope that the same thing won’t happen to another person. Today, it is rarely used.

Personal inclusive pronouns:

ᓈᔥᑎᑭᒌᔨ		naashtikichiiyi	you too
ᓈᔥᑎᐧᐄᔨ		naashtiwiiyi	him/her too
ᓈᔥᑎᐧᐄᐧᐋᐤ		naashtiwiiwaau	them too
ᓈᔥᑎᐧᐄᔨ (ᐅᐦᑖᐧᐄᐦ)		naashtiwiiyi (uhtaawiih)	his/her (father) too

Not all persons have an emphatic pronouns in one word as above, for other persons, people use the emphatic pronoun preceded by ᓈᔥᑦ ᑭᔮᐦ naasht kiyaah.

ᓈᔥᑦ ᑭᔮᐦ ᓃᔨ		naasht kiyaah niiyi	me too
ᓈᔥᑦ ᑭᔮᐦ ᒋᔨᐧᐋᐤ		naasht kiyaah chiyiwaau	you all too
ᓈᔥᑦ ᑭᔮᐦ ᒋᔮᓅ		naasht kiyaah chiyaanuu	you and me too
ᓈᔥᑦ ᑭᔮᐦ ᓃᔮᓐ		naasht kiyaah niiyaan	we too (but not you)

All these inclusive pronouns tend to be replaced today by the expression ᓃᔨ ᑭᔮᐦ niiyi kiyaah i.e. the set of emphatic personal pronouns with the particle ᑭᔮᐦ kiyaah ‘also, and’.
