These verbs can be turned into new nouns by dropping the final -u and adding the suffix -siu. The new noun describes a person who does the action habitually. This is a productive process.
For example:
ᓵᒋᐦᐄᐙᐤ | ᓵᒋᐦᐄᐙᓯᐤ | |
saachihiiwaau | saachihiiwaasiu | |
s/he loves people | a lover |
A second and much rarer way of making a noun from these verbs is to add the prefix u- to the verb form. This usage is mainly found in the translation of the Bible.
